Speaker’s Speech
I feel extremely happy to welcome you back after short recess. I am overwhelmed by your love. I am emboldened by your support and enthusiasm. I am thrilled by your sense of dedication and commitment of this county. You have renewed my hope and strengthened my belief in the greatness of this county. Now, all of us, both young and old, men and women, small Kenya of all ethnic group, race or creed, have embarked on a journey to a promising future with unshakeable determination and faith in God and in our selves.
I would like, on behalf of myself, my family and the entire leadership and supporters of This County to express my sincere appreciation of natives of this County for giving me mandate to preside over the affairs of this great County for the remaining period. I am greatly honored for the confidence you have extended to me and I promise not let you down. You have asked me to be you chief servant and I accept it with humility and gratitude.
The county Assembly represents the future of Trans Nzoia people. It is the hope of this county. Our phenomenal success is so short a time it proof that working together in Unity, we can move Trans Nzoia forward. Look around you; see what a gorgeous constellation of stars we are. Just see at the dazzling mosaic of people of various ethnic backgrounds, race, creed, sex, age, experience, and social status we are blessed with. Never in the history of this county have its leaders come together and worked so hard together as on indivisible entity with one vision. It is the love of Trans Nzoia County that has brought us together. We chose to let go our individual differences and personal ambition in order to save this County.
Some prophets of doom have predicated a vicious in-fighting in following this victory. I want to assure that they will be disappointed. When a group of people come together over an idea or because of a shared vision, such groups can never fail or disintegrate. I want to promise you that we will never die as long us our original vision endures. It will grow stronger and coalesce into a single dream that will become a beacon of hope not only to Trans Nzoia but the rest of Kenya. I want to assure you that despite the challenges and disagreements we had, it is my humble wish that let us leave them aside and fight for our people who brought us hear.
This is a critical moment in the history of this County. The task ahead is enormous, the expectations are high, and the challenges are intimidating. But I know that with your new support and co-operation, we shall turn our problems into opportunities.
I offer my friends who we have been in disagreement a hand of friendship. We have been through a long and bitter fight, and we have realized that nothing we have achieved. Now we have come together. There should be no bitterness. Let us unite in forgiveness, reconciliation, and hard work to rebuild our County. Trans Government building requires joint effort of all natives. Let’s work for our common destiny; and advance our common aspiration to bequeath a better County to our children.
I salute the efforts of our foretold gallant heroes and heroine of this County. I salute my worthy predecessors for their contribution of this Assembly. The mistakes people have made in the past should not distract us from confronting the enormous challenges ahead.
I believe that government exists to serve the people and not the people to serve the government. I believe that government exists to chart a common part and great an enabling environment for its natives and residents to fulfill themselves in life. The County is not supposed to be burden on the people, it is not supposed to intrude on every aspect of life and it is not supposed to mount roadblocks in every direction we turn to in life. The true purpose of Assembly is to make laws and policies for the general good of the people, provide social services that can enhance quality of life, defend the County against internal and external aggression and generally ensure the peace and stability prevails.
These will be the aims and objectives of my office. My Office will provide the creative potential of Trans Nzoia people. My office will adhere to the principles and practice of the rule of law in a modern society. My office will embark on polices geared to economic reconstruction, employment, creation and immediate rehabilitation of the collapsed union.
My office will work closely with C.E.Cs and private and internal sectors to fulfill the passed bills. We need the support and understanding of the international community to succeed the task we have embarked on to recreate our beloved County.
My office will cooperate with Clerks office and liaison committee to ensure the closure running of the County. To improve the planning and co-ordination of committees.
My office will waken those pending reports in each committee; to be facilitated and remitted. The Assembly which have passed motions and not been effective because of finance will be my walk over.
When I read my bible; the book of Habakkuk, it tells me that God says that religion, wealth, power and prosperity are useless to man inquiring them cost him his dignity, freedom and justice. Habakkuk records the complete freedom that God and man have a talking to each other on reciprocal basis a according to the covenant God made with Adam, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Moses. My dear honorable members, lets enjoy similar freedom in our relationship with one another according to national constitution. God’s power is present to protect this relationship, care for the faithful and punish those who exploit it for selfish ends. God’s revelation to Habakkuk reminded Israel that she had gone astray by abandoning this free relationship and putting in its place works of heredity, power and religion.
Once again, I call on all members and staffs to work with my office to realize the enormous potential of this County. We invite all those have been hounded out of our shores by repressive policies of our past to come back and join us in our union .Trans Nzoia needs to genius of natives wherever they are. It is time for healing and we need every hand on deck.
I was woken up this morning by rays of sunlight, which had bathed my room in such brilliance that it felt completely new. I began to notice things around me in great details. It was as if the room was given a facelift. I looked out of the window and, behold a cloudless sky. The tress danced lazily enjoying morning breeze. I looked far into the horizon and the beauty of what I saw around me stirred my soul. It was as if I was standing atop Mount Kenya surveying the landscape. I said to myself “Oh, what a beautiful County”
Indeed we are so blessed, so endowed. Poverty, skepticism and despondency are not supposed to be our lot. Ours is land of unparalleled beauty and promise. It is land of laughter and hope.
My fellow honorable members, I will strive to lead you to create Assembly you can be proud of again. Let’s join hands and remain united for the sake of our people. That way, Trans Nzoia Will be happy place for all. That is my dream.
God bless you all. God bless Trans Nzoia
Thank you.
